What has to be true before a figure appears here
- Twelve complete months of daily account values, and one broker statement reconciled against them. Fewer than that, or none reconciled, and this page stays empty.
- Two figures, side by side: time-weighted, which describes how the account did, and money-weighted, which describes how the money did. Deposits and withdrawals are taken out of the first and are part of the second.
- Every figure is the return over the window printed beside it, never rescaled to a yearly rate.
- The first figure published says "before tax" in the same sentence as the number. A figure net of tax follows only once a 1099-B has been reconciled, and it will say so.
- Figures are absolute facts about this account. Nothing on this site measures the account against anything outside it.
- If the record stops being written, or the daily values stop arriving, this page goes back to saying nothing rather than showing the last number it saw.
